05/25 1890s Lingerie dress
I made this dress for Port Townsand's victorian heritage festival. I used Truly Victorian's ripple skirt pattern and Black snail's sport blouse pattern. Both were heavily altered to recreate the look of the original dress. I don't know anything at all about the original dress. I found the pictures on pintrest with no discription or source :( I would guess its from 1890-1910
The dress is made of a white cotton lawn with with a swiss dot pattern. It features pintucks and insertion lace. Both were new sewing techniques for me. I searched really hard for a lightwight cotton fabric with black pindots like the origanal dress. White swiss dots were the best I could do :/ I think it makes the dress look a bit biridal, Where the polkadots would have been a little more summery.
